Sowing:
Sowing in late summer to autumn, the cold germinators need low temperatures and germinate the following spring at the earliest. Sow seeds 5 cm apart, cover with 1-2 cm soil and cover with brushwood to protect against any birds. Wild garlic loves shady areas with airy earth. It grows best on nutrient and humus-rich garden soil.
Harvest
The mature leaves are best harvested from March to April until bud formation. Always make sure you do not confuse wild garlic with the similar-looking and poisonous lily of the valley. Wild garlic can grow again the following year.
Tips for cooking and seasoning
With its delicate garlic flavour, wild garlic is one of the most popular spice and aroma plants in spring. The young leaves before flowering and even the finely chopped bulbs are ideal for seasoning soups, salads or cheese dishes.
